Marion Stewart-Thomas has worked in healthcare and business for most of her career. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Texas at Dallas in 1988, she worked with young businesses providing financial record-keeping and reporting to help guide business decisions. In 1998, she earned her Master of Science degree from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. For the next ten years, her work remained primarily with small and start-up businesses, often health-care related. In 2007 she was hired for a position at University of Nevada Reno in their Business and Finance Support Services, where her creativity and numeric skills found a great niche. When she relocated to Dallas in October 2010, she found new opportunities at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and rapidly moved up the administrative ladder in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. She was soon promoted to Program Coordinator for the Cancer Genetics Program, where she kept meticulous records and worked closely with the Division Finance and Grants and Contracts staff to keep numerous clinical and basic science grants progressing toward their goals. Currently she serves the Cancer Prevention Initiative as its administrative manager.
